What to Expect

Remembering WWII is an outdoor event set in the heart of historic downtown Linden — a small, walkable area packed with living history, music, food, and memories you won’t forget.

It Gets Loud.

The battle reenactments include smoke, pyrotechnics, and loud booms. Earplugs are usually provided at the event — but feel free to bring your own, especially if you’re bringing young children or sensitive family members.

Dress for the Weather.

The event is entirely outdoors with limited shade. September in Tennessee can be hot — wear comfortable shoes, light clothing, and bring your own water bottle to avoid lines. There is no indoor shelter if it rains, so check the forecast and plan accordingly.

Bring Your Camera.

Photography is welcome throughout the event. You’ll want to capture the battle reenactments, vintage vehicles, live music, and most importantly, the veterans.

Dress up. Everyone Can!

You don’t have to be a registered civilian impression to dress in 1940s attire. Everyone is encouraged to step back in time! The more period dress, the better.

What to Eat?

Café de Normandie and Stagedoor Canteen offer event-themed treats, including beignets, popcorn, and ice cream floats. Food trucks are on site. You’re also welcome to bring your own food and drinks.

A Note for Families.

Families with children of all ages attend every year. The battle reenactments can be emotional and intense — they depict real WWII scenarios — but this is part of the educational experience. Use it as a conversation starter with your kids about history and sacrifice.
